CORTINA D’AMPEZZO, Italy — Korey Dropkin and Cory Thiesse delivered a breakthrough performance in mixed doubles curling at the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. The American duo rallied through the semifinal with a dramatic 9-8 victory over Italy, securing the United States’ first Olympic medal in mixed doubles curling and advancing to the gold-medal match — a historic first for the event since its Olympic debut in 2018.
In a tightly contested final, Dropkin and Thiesse fell 6-5 to Sweden’s sibling team of Isabella and Rasmus Wranå, earning the silver medal. Thiesse’s podium finish also marked the first Olympic curling medal ever for an American woman. Their run captured widespread attention, blending spirited play with milestone achievement for U.S. curling.
